The main stages of manufacturing and installation

Step # 1 - choosing the optimal size

When planning to make a gate in the fence, it is important first of all to determine the dimensions of the structure. The optimal width of the wicket is no more than 1 meter, the height is no more than 2 meters.

When manufacturing a wicket with a height of more than two meters, it is advisable to supplement the structure frame with an upper insert with a crossbar. Step # 2 - erecting support posts

In order to make a solid wicket gate from a profiled sheet, which will regularly serve for the next several decades, it is necessary to properly equip the racks for it. When installing the racks, it is important to monitor deviations from the vertical position, which can lead to skewing and disruption of the finished product.

Step # 3 - making the frame

Before cutting the pipe into workpieces, it is important to clean it from rust and scale using a metal brush attached to the grinder. After that, the pipe surface must be degreased with a solvent and primed with an anti-corrosion compound.

Having decided on the size of the wicket, you can start making its frame. To do this, on the profile pipe, it is necessary to mark the dimensions of the blanks and cut them with a grinder at an angle of 45 degrees. The creation of such a chamfer will improve the quality of the weld, while making it almost invisible.

To equip the wicket, you will need two longitudinal parts of 1.75-1.9 m each and 2-3 transverse parts of 0.9-1 m each. The parts are welded together 2-3 cm with tacks around the entire perimeter every 20-30 cm. Longitudinal and transverse pipes, including the central transverse pipe, must be located strictly perpendicular to each other. The distance between all horizontal elements must also be the same. This will not only add additional rigidity to the structure, but also make its appearance more attractive.

To increase the strength of the wicket, you can also make a smaller frame inside the frame from the same pipes with dimensions of 20x40 mm. To prevent distortion of the frame during the welding process from overheating, you can make the tacks in a checkerboard pattern. After the frame for the wicket has been welded, we proceed to the installation of additional elements - awnings, plates for fastening the lock and an external handle.

Step # 4 - installing a wicket

After completing the welding work, it is necessary to clean the welds, prime the damaged areas and paint the frame.

The corrugated board is easily attached to the frame using self-tapping screws or rivets. The distance between the fasteners depends on the preferences of the owner: you can attach each wave of the leaf, or you can also through one. It is only necessary to fix the profiled sheet to the middle crosspiece of the frame.

To install a wicket, you can use both traditional metal hinges and new-fashioned polymer curtains. If metal posts are used as racks, the curtains are welded directly to them. The hinges are attached to brick or stone posts by welding to a profile pipe fixed with anchors or dowels on the post. The finished wicket can be hung on the support and the operation of the lock can be checked.

To prevent the wicket from opening on both sides, a limiter from the corner is welded onto the opposite support. The false strips will also allow covering the gaps between the wicket posts and the curtain.
